“Herrera & Company helped Abbott Diabetes Care, another member of the Abbott Corporation family companies, secure and earn ETP funding. They came to Abbott Vascular highly recommended based on there years of ETP consulting work and long list of high profile clients. I am happy to announce that they did not disappoint. After preparing a thorough analysis that delineated the ETP opportunity, identified roles and responsibilities, and illustrated a complete project plan we followed there lead to secure a sizable award in December 2007. We are planning to earn the $1.5 million in our first 12 months then seeking additional ETP support. Lastly, we are excited about using electronic records for ETP reporting and leveraging the substantial investments in our LMS software.”

ETP Funding $1.5 Million

Abbott Vascular is uniquely focused on advancing the treatment of vascular disease and improving patient care by combining the latest medical devices innovations with world-class pharmaceuticals, investing in research and development and advancing medicine through training and education. The manufacture of AV’s products is a highly exacting and complex process due in part to strict regulatory requirements imposed by the FDA and other international/domestic regulatory bodies. To be successful, AV must have an experienced, well trained workforce that can understand and follow specific quality protocols and manufacturing procedures, work efficiently, and contribute to the high work standards required by the industry.

AV will train employees in a spectrum of skills that include advanced technology, manufacturing, continuous improvement, business, management, and computer skills. What’s unique about this agreement is that Abbott Vascular will deliver Productive Laboratory training to its front line manufacturing workforce in California to ensure that employees acquire the critical manufacturing skills needed to perform their jobs at a quality standard acceptable by the FDA. Only front-line manufacturing employees working as technicians and operators who directly interface with a new and/or improved manufacturing process will attend productive lab training. Productive lab training will provide manufacturing employees cross-training opportunities on the many production lines/procedures available on our production floor.

The FDA requires that knowledge and skills of AV’s manufacturing workers rise commensurately with all new and/or improved manufacturing standards. Rather than create live classroom training sessions for each new standard, Abbott Vascular is using productive lab training as the most logical alternative to deliver the substantial quantity of critical manufacturing skills to front-line manufacturing workers. Trainees will work in Santa Clara, Redwood City, or Temecula.
