Agilent Technologies is a global, diversified technology company
focusing on high-growth markets in the communications, electronics
and life sciences with headquarters in Palo Alto, California. The
company operates three businesses: test and measurement, semiconductor
products, and chemical analysis and life sciences, all supported
by a central research laboratory employing 43,000 world-wide and
over 11,000 workers through out California. Agilent was spun-off
from Hewlett-Packard Company in 1999 as part of a corporate realignment
that created two separate companies.
With the help of the ETP, Agilent is investing in a worker-training
plan that will help the organization become a high performing workplace.
Agilent will train 8,000 employees located Statewide, across all
occupations. Workers will receive training in Manufacturing, Computer,
Business, Continuous Improvement, and/or HazMat skills based upon
their job duties. A menu curriculum has been approved that includes
a range of hours of classroom/lab, distance learning, computer-based
training (CBT) and/or SOST. Herrera & Company was selected over
five other ETP consulting firms to lead the ETP proposal.
