Sun's fourth ETP contract speaks directly to ETP's Strategic Plan for FY 2007 and 2008 to support retraining for business in California's high technology sector that provides secure, high-paying jobs in manufacturing. Sun has now received four consecutive ETP contracts over the past five years for over $15 million in total funding. The primary themes driving worker training in the current proposal are 1) increasing product quality, reliability, and customer service; 2) adaptation of new technology and sophistication of Sun products and services; and, 3) growing worker efficiency in proprietary IT skills.


Both on-line and instructor led training methodologies will be offered and Sun will be reimbursed for 2,000 employees who receive anywhere between 24 and 200 hours of instruction over a 20 month period.
