We Stand Against Systemic Bias, Racism, and Unequal Treatment
A message from our Managing Partner
The deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor shockingly add to the unconscionable list of Black Americans who have lost their lives based on the color of their skin. What amazes me is how little has changed over the three decades my firm has been in business. It has taken both a pandemic and a revolution of sorts to start the difficult process of eliminating systemic bias, racism, and unequal treatment of minorities in our American institutions.
We will never sway from our longstanding values of inclusion, condemning intolerance, and standing up against injustice. Our firm is 100% minority owned and my business partner is Asian. We are both MBA’s and worked very hard to get to where we are today. That said, we reject on principle the notion that becoming a more progressive and inclusive country will somehow undermine Blacks, Latinos and all minorities by fostering dependence, avoiding accountability, and/or lowering standards. Instead, we firmly believe that change is needed for the Republic to survive and the time is now.
Going forward we will take the call for equality to our clients, government reps, elected officials, and business leaders. I have seen good progress over the past 30 years in California, but it is similarly true that communities of color continue to endure discrimination and trauma.
Our hope is that out of this difficult time real change will come because we simply have not done enough.
In Solidarity,
– Phil and Monica
